3 ways my design work is different ~ than the rest

As a designer with an artistic and creative focus, I bring a different perspective and approach to design than most traditional designers do.

Here’s 3 ways I do things different than my competition:

#1 I look at design from an artistic point of view.  Mixing styles, textures and elegant finishes is what makes my designs impossible to forget.

#2 Design for passion not my business bottom line – I only work on a small number of events each year.  I put everything into the work I do, and am looking to create distinctive, memorable and special wedding designs that make a lifetime of memories and thrill guests.

#3 Work with who you are as a couple, how you live your life and your style personality and then I combine it with my creative spirit!  This allows us to build a day to remember that's connected to you.

You won't get average wedding florals, design or day with me - I promise.

Consultation Meetings ~ how they work...

Every couple and every wedding is different (and beautiful).  That’s why when I talk with couples about their big day, I suggest we meet first to get a sense of how we could best work together.  Many couples are first concerned with pricing, this is difficult to predict before we talk together about your needs, ideas and the impact you want to have for your big day.

Things we’ll talk about at our first meeting:

  1. Are we a good fit for each?  Meeting in person is a great way to see if we’d work well together, and I really like to build relationships with my clients.  So, this first meeting is an integral part of my consultative approach to wedding and event design.

  2. You help me understand what you desire for your big event and share your overall vision.  This gives me a chance to ask questions and answer questions you may have.  I'll show you some samples and see what you really inspires you.

  3. Shared expectations.  We’ll talk about what we both expect from our professional relationship and this first conversation will be the base for which our future work together is built on.  This makes for a seamless client/designer relationship.

Things we don’t talk about at our first meeting:

  1. Price – it’s difficult to give you a quote at our first meeting.  It also may take me a bit of time to develop a comprehensive quote for you, as there are many factors to be considered.  The quoting process is highly consultative and even when I provide you with a quotation, we can adjust as required to fit your needs, and budget, well before our event design contract is signed.

  2. Exact design specifics – as a highly creative designer, my design ideas build on each other and your feedback.  So, as we work through the event design process together, we create a custom design that reflects both your style and mine.

The first meeting we have is generally 1 hour at my beautiful home studio.  I’ll show you some designs, share my style personality and we’ll get to know each other.

Welcome Wagon Bridal Show '17

Recently I attended the Welcome Wagon Bridal Show at the beautiful Medicine Hat Lodge.  I had such a great response to my both and had so much fun designing and showcasing my work.

The designs I featured incorporated poems of love, paper and earthly textures, decadent florals and stunning metal props.

I too, met some great people at this event.  It was really nice to see the passion and energy people have for planning and designing their big day!

It was energizing to share how our approach to wedding event design is engaging, creative and relationship based - working closely with couples, and other service providers to develop truly interesting and luxurious weddings!

I'm Lori.

I love design and I've been making things beautiful in people's homes, lives and events for over 35 years.  I'm not your typical designer - I'm part designer, artist and creative.  I stay up late thinking about design the project I work on for clients.  The design work I do is NOT a job, it's a passion and a life pursuit.

I'm obsessed with creating designs that are imaginative, classically minimal, yet large in scale.  My designs, whether floral, home or featured at events; make an impact, create feelings and reflect the personality of both my clients and my own design philosophy.

I'm focused on the art of design and making what I do approachable, and yet large enough in scale that the work evokes inspiration and builds a mood in the setting it's shared.  I too, custom design and pull from both practical and luxury price points in all the designs I dream up and share with clients.

I love imparting my passion for design with clients (who soon become friends) and feel proud and excited when I can help people to truly enjoy their living spaces and events.

If you'd like to find out more about how I can assist you with your floral, home or event design, please send me a quick note anytime via email at hello@loriknapik.com

Looking forward to meeting you, Lori.
